Combined magnetics and LiDAR over a North Queensland gold project

LocationCharters Towers region, QLD
Area6.9 km²
ServicesDrone magnetic survey, LiDAR

An exploration client needed both high-resolution magnetics and a detailed terrain model over a 6.9 square kilometre project area. Combining both sensors into one mobilisation cut the total cost well below two separate campaigns.

Magnetics. Full processing chain from diurnal correction through microlevelling, delivered as GRD, GeoTIFF and georeferenced PDF products with a complete survey report and data dictionary.

LiDAR. Sixteen capture sessions across the project area. Absolute positioning was controlled with an on-site RTK base station and a network of surveyed ground control points, tying every session to a common datum and eliminating the session-to-session offsets that uncontrolled base positions introduce. The result: a seamless, ground-classified point cloud and derived terrain products across the full area.

Why it matters. Multi-session drone LiDAR fails quietly when base station and ground control are not handled rigorously. Tight survey control is standard on our jobs, not an optional extra.
